When California's Proposition 8: Ban on Same-Sex Marriage passed in the November 2008 election, a number of news articles cited Asian Americans, Latinos, African Americans, and Christians as the main proponents. As the battle for same-sex marriage equality continues, we made sure Asians and Pacific Islanders for marriage equality were visible in this year's Chinese New Year Parade. |

This year, we were in the vanguard section of the parade. We had a snazzy silver convertible complete with a fabulous driver donning a tux and top hat... |

...and a queer API couple in the white wedding gowns lovingly made by their mothers. |

Marching behind the convertible, we donned Chinese lion masks, bright red robes, and rainbow stoles... |
